महाकवि सूरदास द्वारा रचित 'सूरसागर' के 'भ्रमरगीत' प्रसंग से प्रस्तुत पद्यांश उद्धृत है।
इस पद में जब उद्धव जी गोपियों से कहते हैं कि कृष्ण को भूल जाओ और ज्ञान एवं योग की बातें करते हैं । तब गोपियाँ अपने मन की व्यथा उद्धव को बताती हैं ।
व्याख्या - गोपियां अपनी व्यथा को व्यक्त करते हुए उद्धव जी से कहतीं हैं कि अपने हृदय का प्रेम व्यक्त करने से पहले ही कृष्ण हमें छोड़ कर चले गए ,और हमारे मन की बातें हमारे मन में ही रह गई । हम उनसे कोई भी बात व्यक्त नहीं कर पाए अर्थात् कह नहीं पाए। हे उद्धव ! इसलिए अब हम अपने मन की व्यथा किससे जाकर कहें ?
आगे गोपियां कहती है की है उद्धव ! अब तक तो हमें श्री कृष्ण के वापस आने की उम्मीद थी इसलिए हमने अपने तन-मन की व्यथा सहन की अर्थात् तकलीफ सहन की ।
उद्धव के योग और ज्ञान का संदेश सुन- सुन कर हम गोपियां बिरह की अग्नि में और अधिक जलने लगी हैं।
गोपिया उद्धव से अपनी बात को जारी रखते हुए कहती हैं कि है उद्धव हम गोपियां चाहती तो श्रीकृष्ण को पुकार कर बुला सकती थी, और वह हमारी विरह की अग्नि को शांत कर अपने प्रेम की धारा को बहा देते ।
गोपियां कहती है कि हे उद्धव! हम धैर्य किस प्रकार धारण करें क्योंकि श्रीकृष्ण ने अपनी मर्यादा त्याग दी है । कृष्ण द्वारा हमें छला गया है, क्योंकि मर्यादा तो यह कहती है कि प्रेम के बदले प्रेम मिलना चाहिए।

कहिए जाइ कौन पै ऊधौ, नाहीं परत कही।
अवधि अधार आस आवन की, तन मन बिथा सही।
अब इन जोग सँदेसनी सुनि-सुनि, बिरहिनि बिरह दही।
चाहति हुतीं गुहारि जितहिं तैं, उत तैं धार बही।
‘सूरदास’ अब धीर धरहिं क्यौं, मरजादा न लही।।
The passage presented is quoted from the 'Bhramargeet' episode of 'Sursagar' composed by great poet Surdas.
In this verse, when Uddhav ji tells the gopis to forget Krishna and talks about knowledge and yoga. Then the Gopis tell Uddhava the agony of their mind.
Explanation - The gopis express their distress and tell Uddhav ji that even before expressing the love of his heart, Krishna left us, and the words of our mind remained in our mind only. We could not express anything to him, that is, we could not say anything. Hey Uddhav! That's why now to whom should we go and tell the pain of our mind ?
Gopis further say that it is Uddhav! Till now we had hope of Shri Krishna's return, that is why we endured the agony of our body and mind, that is, we endured the pain.
After listening to the message of yoga and knowledge of Uddhav, we gopis have started burning more in the fire of separation.
Continuing her talk with Uddhav, the gopis say that Uddhav, if we gopis wanted, they could have called Shri Krishna, and he would have pacified the fire of our separation and let the flow of his love flow.
Gopis say that how should we be patient because Shri Krishna has given up his dignity. We have been cheated by Krishna, because the code of conduct says that love should be reciprocated.
